Our Grade 1 Myrrh is harvested from the Commiphora trees of Somalia, which grow along the coastal escarpments and inland East of Berbera in Somaliland to around the Horn in Puntland.

Somali Myrrh is widely regarded to be the best quality myrrh available, and is sappy, fresh and aromatic, with a long-lasting fragrance and deep, rich brown colour.

Gum Trees are owned by many different families in Somalia.

Collectors farm the gum and sell to merchants. Collectors may enjoy up to 100% of the revenues of the gum, but mostly sharing a portion of the revenue with the Gum Tree owners.

Merchants grade and clean the gums ready for export, and at Frankincense and Myrrh we airfrieght raw myrrh directly to our warehouse in Cardiff or our customer's doorstep to ensure that you get only the purest and freshest resin available.
